I posted a thread twice today, as far as my tort's diet is concerned. I got no answer. I then sent a conversation, and got no answer till a new member was kind enough to answer.

Please note that I need help. I was not chatting, having fun, or killing time. Moreover this is NOT the first time it happens, and I wonder W H Y !

I have only managed to feed my tort Roman lettuce, which I do knowis not healthy. Today I bought a mixture of baby arrots, cabbage and broccoli, and surprisingly my tort ate thank GOD. My question is: can a tort eat something like carrots RAW? Aren't they a bit too hard? Need they be cooked? Please please answer me.

Very sorry for what came in the previous thread: I waited about half a day for a reply!

Quite often people just assume that one would check the care sheets for a list of the foods that should be fed to a species. And it almost always depends upon the time of day you post your question too. You're in a way different time zone that most of us, and we don't even see your questions until they've been up for a while. Our most active time here on the forum is after everyone is off work, which would be after 5p our time. And most of us don't answer questions about tortoises we don't keep ourselves, hoping those others will help you.

I really doubt anyone is ignoring your questions. We just haven't seen them yet.

Since this is the "Help and Feedback" section, let's everyone go to the original thread to post helpful answers to Gillian's question.

Please recognize that you are not in a crisis situation. Breathe. Tortoises teach patience. Care sheets are here.
Remember when you were young , I can remember at Christmas I wanted it here now not next week not tommarrow now . And now that I'm older - older - older I have found things take longer . But the youth will be our tort keepers of tommarrow :)

Please allow me to say one thing: you just cannot imagine HOW patient I am, but when a post does not get answered once, twice three times, well there's a limit to everything, even patience.

I would NOT have got a tort when I decided to go for a pet, right?

You're right, I cannot imagine how patient you are. Posting the same question three times in short succession is not a sign of patience.
A good way to channel that need to know is to read the care sheet.

Gillian: Please remember the time difference. For instance, this post of yours that I've quoted here, shows up at 4a here in my area. There just aren't too darn many members on the Forum that early in the morning.

Gillian: It's good that you've tried to find answers here for your torts. Don't get so upset, life is too short. Imagine before the internet age, one had to go to the library to check out books to find information about almost everything. Now sitting in your own comfortable place at home or anywhere, with your laptop or Iphone, push a button and voila your answers are there. This is an excellent site for many, many information about different tortoises, turtles, and others. I hope your tort is doing fine now.

Thanks so much your post, your understanding as well as your kind words, all of which I very much appreciate. Please allow me to point out that when one has to say something one can say it in one of two ways:

a) a hurtful way
b) a very diplomatic way

Why choose the first? I am always cautious with my words, particularly when dealing with someone I do not know personally, that is of course unless I get hurt..

I know that life's short, but I am an extremely sensitive person, and this is not something I can help or change now.

Once again, thank you so much for your kindness!! (By the way, my tort is fine but a bit restless due to a heat wave). Once again thanks!

you. I'd personally always answer if I had a good one to give.

Maybe a lot of folks like me like talking with you, but didn't have an answer. Just a guess.

It's my pleasure, believe me. I repeat I am extremely sensitive, and please do not take it personal: I am willing to talk to anyone here, so long as I don't get HURT! So go ahead and talk to me for as long as you want!

Did you got the answer you needed ? There is a care sheet at the main page. Usually if you look for the kind of tortoise you have.

I hope you find it. I'm sorry I can't help more since I don't own that kind.

Don't worry. I can manage alone.

Many thanks your help and kindness.
