I have waited so long to find some of these little tortoises. Well, today Christmas came early for me! My three kleinmanni arrived after a long journey. They were a little stressed but have all had a good drink, a warm soak and started eating and even had a little explore. I thought I would share some pictures :)

Thank you. I, of course, think they are beautiful, but it is great to hear other people say it too

I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and the guy I got them from has fantastic animals! I can't wait to get,to know them ..... I can't resist keep having a little peek without them seeing me!

They are very inquisitive and learn when feeding time approaches. So adorable to see their little faces turn quickly in response to anyone approach.

Nice, really nice, looking group. My guys are this coming year or next large enough to reproduce (I hope). I'll look forward to more about this trio.

They are one of the more interesting tortoises out there. Little dynamos.

Thank you. There are so few in the uk that is nice to hear about others. My three are still very much at the settling in stage at the moment. I am quite pleased that they are all eating although wanting to hide a lot of the time. The smaller two are showing more signs of wanting to check out their surroundings and find the nicest spot to hide in. The larger one is by far the most stressed out and the most timid. When she arrived her eyes were a little swollen and she is showing an occasional bubble from the nose but this is after being soaked and whilst eating. Her eyes are much improved and nice and brigh but I am observing her closely in case it develops into rns rather than post travel stress. I am weighing the added stress of a visit to the vets and then trying to administer antibiotics against keeping her warm, quiet and well hydrated. At the moment because she is eating I am opting for the latter. Fingers crossed!

With all that in mind, maybe take the two who are doing okay and put them in a different enclosure. Don't rehouse the stressed one, but the two doing okay. I tend to keep most of my animals singly, but my Egyptians I keep in groups as acquired.

Yep, funnily enough that is what I was doing earlier on this evening. They are bedded down for the night now, but if no improvement tomorrow then the two smaller ones will be camping!

Update: Well, today it is like I have three different tortoises. The two smaller ones, Tali and Pepi, are zipping around, climbing and looking much more relaxed. Kaya, the bigger female has no more bubbles and her eyes are almost normal. She found her food herself and is much less jumpy. So pleased that it isn't the dreaded rns and that are all looking more at home :)
