Hello. I am changing my russians substrate to organic soil and I was wondering if there are any good plants I can put in there to let grow.

Seeds from carolina pet supply. Grow in trays and change out as they graze to give the plants a chance to recover. Growing in pots protects the roots. Try anything you don't mind having eaten or destroyed. I grew a rose of sharon indoors over the winter. One day they got hungry and ate it all. Spider plants. Direct sow grass seeds. Weeds....

Sadly, johnsonnboswell has not been on the forum for a few months due to pressures of work, I believe but hopefully will be back with us soon.
Most of us use either an MVB (mercury vapour bulb) which provides heat, light and UVB in one, or a strip light UVB with a separate basking lamp. At night a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) can be used if necessary, which provides heat but no light as a tortoise needs complete darkness in order to sleep properly. The heat bulbs, CHE and MVB's should be fitted in ceramic holders due to the heat they produce. They are sometimes enclosed in bulb cages for safety.
Do not use any form of compact/coiled bulb as these have caused damage to tortoises eyes and sometimes don't produce enough UVB.
