I've had tortoises for a few years now--I have juvenile leopards, adult red foots, and adult greeks--but I recently decided to start working with Forsten's. I'd like to do my part to ensure that this species continues to increase in captivity, even as it diminishes in the wild. I recently purchased a 2 1/2 month old CB Forsten's from a breeder in Florida. I've had it for three days now and have yet to see it eat. I've offered greens, squash, carrots, and even strawberries, but it seems content to burrow into the substrate and sleep. Should I be worried, or is this normal activity for a hatchling Forsten's? To anticipate your questions, here's my setup: Cypress mulch substrate, UVA and UVB bulbs, hot spot of 90 degrees and a low of 75. I've also placed a live fern in the enclosure to allow it to hide. It always has access to water, and I use a humidifier to keep the humidity at about 70 percent. I also give it daily soaks. Thanks, experts, for your recommendations.
