There just aren't enough photos of Indotestudo tortoises here, so I thought I'd try to start a photo thread by posting one of my elongata. He may not have the prettiest shell, but he's got that charming yellow-pink face that can't be beat.

Hi,

Love the pic, how old is he and how big? Does he live alone? My little male is quite aggressive in an embarrassing way.

Here is Gamundo, I got him earlier this year. A friend got him from a rural market where he was being sold for consumption! He was with them for 10 days and didn't eat. He was a bit bedraggled with a facial injury but I got him sorted. This is him on the first day, as I inspected him.

My male is only 6" SCL and age unknown. He had some questionable care in his first few years that I don't know much about. He lives alone and is quite aggressive (in a comical way - lots of head bobbing and charging/ramming).

This little girl has now outgrown the hole in her hide a few times.

She seems to be a pretty relaxed little lady. Do you know much about her providence? As you are probably aware, no forstenii in Laos, so I can only compare to Elongated.

They are so aggressive, little bullies to march around intimidating and assaulting those in their way. I kept Gamundo quaratined in the pen for the first few months but after releasing him into 'general population' he went around trying to dominate. The problem for him is that he is tiny(around 6" SCL), my other torts seem to ignore him and he gives up ramming them after a few attempts save for his favourite, Daosavan, who he chases amorouressly around when he finds her, much to her distress.

This is Daosavan basking. I have had her for almost 2 years and she had grown more then 4cm. She is not very comfortable with people or other torts. I did well to get this photo without her retreating into her shell. She doesn't keep to the normal elongated routine and is often active into mid morning and rarely in the evening, compared to my other Elongateds which function like a clock. She came from a rural market, so I can with certain limit the geographical area she originates from. Sadly the forest where she came from is rapidly disappearing.

I bought that particular female from Eric Ivins (a not so past contributor here) she was imported by Emerald/Sapphire(?) something in Florida. I don't know if she is a south or north or northwest population animal from Sulawesi. The different populations have had different shell characteristic attributes ascribed to them, but some field workers and market watchers suggest those are artificial distinctions based on statistical analysis of their presence or absence from the different areas.

I have several others from a single source imported through LA.

Here are my two Forsten's hatchlings. Notice the nuchal scute on one and the lack of a nuchal on the other. They are about three months old now.
