I recently added a tree stick to my tank for my turtle to bask on as seen in photo, i don't know what kind of tree it came from but I just wanted to know if it's okay to have it in my tank.

Depends on the kind of tree it came from...

Most woods are fine. Some are toxic.

I had driftwood in my turtle tank, it kept growing slime. I googled it and the slime does go away over time, but just wanted to give you a heads up if you see anything like that on the wood.

If it turns out not to work for you, my mud turtles absolutely love their Zoo Med floating hollow log. They hang out inside or bask on top. You can check it out on petmountain.com. They have great prices and wonderful service too.

Yes, after a while I started seeing a clear slime residue on the stick
