Tortoise died

Thor is dead. He has stiff legs and no movement with his eyes wide open. I think he died yesterday morning or Wednesday night. He's been acting weird for the past 2 weeks. He wouldn't eat or walk around. He wasn't super active when I got him on Christmas but at least he was active and I thought it was because he's enclosure was too small and didn't have enough heat so I upgraded his enclouser and heat bulb. My parents got him from the pet store (petco). I just don't know what I did wrong, I tried so hard to give him a nice house. Just didn't work. Sorry guys.

I am so sorry to hear this.

As you may be aware, I had to have my tort, Joe, put to sleep this week due to a tumour. I am very aware that losing a tort is extremely upsetting.

You may have done nothing wrong. They're pretty tough animals and Thor would have been a more mature tort if you got him from PetCo. It is possible that he was sick when you got him unfortunately.

Please don't blame yourself.

You didn't do anything wrong. He came from Petco sick. Turtles know they are prey, and sick? Bad thing. So they cover up the symptoms that would tell you he was sick. So you don't see he's sick and you see what happens. I'm very sorry, I certainly understand how you feel.

yep my mom bought a 400 dollar russian tort now hes dead i had it for 10 years when i was born my mom gave me the tortoise

He could have been constipated this causes them not to be able to walk or move their tail.
