My little guy used to do the same thing. The advice I had received from everyone was he needed plants and stuff to feel safe and a house per say.

If he only does it in the corners, then place a pice of wood across the corner. It the takes the corner away and makes it hard for them to even try to climb

This is interesting. Mine only do such actions when they've had enough bath-time.

I would do as mentioned above and add items to the corner to make it more challenging. Maybe some distractions to keep him more interested.

One thing I have noticed with little ones is they eventually learn their home and stop flipping as much.

I removed the plants and put his old hide back (black plant pot in corner) and moved the new one (white trash can bottom) to the opposite corner

Is the probe for the thermometer/hygrometer directly underneath the Basking lamp? If not it's too hot in there. That would be the answer.

I agree with Teresa. My guess is a temp issue or possibly a noise issue. Tortoises hear different wavelengths than humans, but if there is some noise that is scaring him, he may be looking to "hide" or escape.

Do you have a temperature gun? You can get one for cheap and it is valuable to have.

Almost like he is frantically trying to excape
I'd hazard the guess that he is actively working at escaping, not just trying to.
There is a basic issue with your habitat that is wrong that needs to be changed/fixed to correct this problem. I will trust that you've read all of the setup and care posts in the leopard section as well as the sulcata section, (the care is almost the same) I also trust that you've got all off your four temps dialed in with proper humidity.
Do you see regular drinking and basking and all of the regular things? Please head over to the specie specific section and read the stickies as well as just bounce around the threads and read them just to help give you some other ideas.
I know you're wanting to get this fixed and you want everything to be perfect for your baby. Heckfire, I'm the same way about my little baby leopard Shabelle ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1495869082.042340.jpg as are everyone here on the forum weather(sp) yours or their own. Keep us updated.

I'm by no means an expert but I would guess it's temperature related. Usually if they are actively trying to scape and not just flipping due to exploring or an incorrectly built cage, then they might be trying to be getting away from the heat, I had the same happen to me because my enclosure was too hot, and newborn / / Do the same thing.

Ok so heres an update. After temps were lowered he stopped flipping and was quite content. Until last night, for some reason he decided to go about and climb the walls, tried climbing his hide, somehow even managed to flip by some of that sphagnum moss stuff. Temp off to the side of basking lamp was 93 with 43% humidity, and opposite side of box temp was 82

tortoises have all that time on their hands to just work at ways to mess with us. Most people think that their tortoise loves them and that the tortoise is dreaming and wishing they could just be snuggled up with their owner.
The truth is they are working at ways to really mess with those of us that feed them, protect them, cleanup after them, defend them, and love them.
So the best thing for you to do will be to figure out any way he can flip himself over, and most importantly you need to do this before he shows you how he's doing it. If you know environmentally everything is good, then you've got a fun new job.
