Hi, all! Are these safe for tortoises to eat? The one w/ the big leaves and pink flowers is Streptocarpus. The purple one in the basket is Streptocarpella (Concord Blue). Both are from the African Violet family.

Thank you!

I believe African violets are safe - I tried looking up the names on www.thetortoisetable.org.uk but they did not come up. Is there a more common name?

Thank you, Amber. I tried the tortoise table, too, but no luck. I know African Violets are safe, but I don't want to take chances of their "cousins." One common name is Cape primrose, which I did search as well; no luck.

Those flowers are gorgeous! That is why I might tend to suspect them of being toxic, but a lot of beautiful flowers are good for the tortoises!
Can't beat hibiscus and pumpkin flowers for my redfoots!

No problem at all! Evening primrose is edible I believe, but others are not. If I'm unsure I move to the next as there is so much out there they can eat :) those are very pretty though!

If I had those gorgeous flowers I'd keep them to myself! They are too beautiful to be devoured or trampled by torts:)
