i don't believe an eagle will be able to pick up a tortoise by its shell with it talon. Have you seen the crows attack the tortoise before?
If you won't let it outside, are you able to put the dirt into a container that is at least 12 inches deep?

Stinky is still walking around a lot. A little less than before (maybe she's tired?) as per her xray she still has 3 eggs. Although the shape has changed. I will post her xray from 3 months ago n also the latest.

I did take her to a garden with lots of mud n grass. She walked around a bit but it felt like she was just trying to get her bearings. I was soon surrounded by crows after about 15 min so I grabbed her n ran home.

What about building her an outside enclosure that has a screen or netting over the top of it if you are so concerned with crows?

I live in an apartment building. I don't hv any place where I can leave her unattended. I could make something for her indoors in my apartment. But she seems to be uninterested in mud.

I would make her somekind of a mudbath. As long as you keep it in some sort of plastic tank or tile where she can get easily into. Don't know what it is called. Plastic covers around. Anything for my tort.

I don't have a picture. Just what my mind tells me, sorry. I have a male Dalmatian Hermann's Tortoise and my Star is only six months old.

If you live in India is it possible to get her Xrayed without the knowledge of authorities..?
Because we all know that keeping a star tortoise is illegal in India..!
Which state do you live in..?
And yes best of luck for your tortoise..!

If you have belcony you can convert it to a temporary enclosure...I have seen my freind..he spreaded soil in the belcony and left the tort there...his tort is doing fine..you can try if you have belcony

Yes it is illegal. I'm in Maharashtra. But I normally take her to a place where they don't say anything. While traveling I cover her up so noone can see her.

I had done exactly this. She was happy to sit in the balcony. But not on the soil.

I visited the vet today, he didn't think it was something to worry about. He said she just needs a cozy quiet dark place. So gv her some privacy.
So I've made a corner for her in my brother in laws room which is empty all day n kept some blankets for her to sit on. She seems to be happy there. At least she stopped walking. Hopefully with some silence n privacy she will lay the eggs.

Also the doctor sd she needs sand & not soil. The eggs need to be able to breathe so she wouldn't lay in soil.

The eggs are unfertilised, as I understand it, and won't hatch. Laying in damp earth, compost, or sand doesn't make any difference as long as she can dig and lay.
