hi everyone,

Just wanted to say thanks so much for the plethora of information. We don't have our tortoise yet but I've been reading a lot of threads and information over the past months.

We are getting a rescued Hermann tortoise. He's estimated to be 40-50. I'll post pictures soon.

My son is over the moon. He's been wanting one for years and while doing research about them, I must admit they sound quite funny and fun little characters. (I did remind my son that's since ours is a rescue he may be shy/timid forever. And he's fine with that.)

We are building his enclosure this weekend so you may see a lot of questions from me in the enclosure section.

I've read Tom's threads on care and common beginner mistakes as well as the care sheet by Chris on Hermann's. (Probably more times than I care to admit. )

I look forward to chatting with you guys on here, Everyone so far has been incredibly informative.

Thank you. We are building his enclosure outside so he can have as much as the southern California sun as he would like. We are adopting him from the Redlands chapter.

Hello, and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum. :)
It's always warming when someone takes on an unwanted older tortoise. :tort::<3:. So many people are only interested in hatchlings or youngsters.
