any guesses on how old she (looks like a she) is? Recently got it from someone who didn't keep her properly (too dry). He said it was around a year and a half. Does that seem right? She is very active and not shy, loves papaya, mushrooms and collard greens. Does not like mazuri or grass. She seems light for her size. My sulcata young one is almost as heavy as her (about 190g) and my sulcata looks smaller.

Humidity and temps are as what the guidelines here have been given, enclosed enclosure, humidity hovers around 80% and temps are 79-88.

Last pic is of them during their regular sun time. Btw they are not enclosed together and their stuff (soaking bin, feeding stuff) are all separate and nothing is cross contaminated IMG_0452.JPG IMG_0453.JPG IMG_0456.JPG IMG_0460.JPG .

There is no way to know exactly how old a tortoise is without a hatch date, but someone who keeps Redfoots (not me) may be able to give you an approximation.

That's good to know. It was in a 20g fish tank with those reptile pellet things. It seems a bit picky with food, picks around the greens and weeds and just loves fruit and mushrooms.

They'll do that.
But if you just give him/her good food, eventually it'll give in and eat it.
They eat before they starve themselves. And getting spoiled on junk food is normal.
However, with Redfoot, fruit and mushrooms can be 50% of the diet.

Age would just be a guess. 1.5yrs looks about right. This tortoise looks good to me, why do you think it's been kept too dry.

When I picked it up it was in the glass enclosure with the pellets. Asked him if he soaked it at all and he said maybe twice a month. Main diet was lettuce cucumber and mazuri. I'm keeping a close eye on him, his/her poops smell absolutely horrible and are very soft, not diarrhea but soft.

Protein usually makes poop smell strong. I've noticed my redfoots usually take around 4 days for what ever they've eaten to be pooped out.
I'd give this tortoise a good diet of weeds and mushrooms, fruit a couple times a week. Weeds and mushrooms will stiffen the poop up a bit.

I also think he looks very good. Maybe you could get him checked out for parasites (internal) by a reptile vet if the poop does not seem normal.
He is gorgeous!

Quick update. She/he (can the gender be identified at this size?) is pooping regularly now! Not as firm as my sulcata, but it doesn’t stink anymore and it does not look like ooze. Eating a lot of mulberry and plantain leaf and stems. Also got some original mazuri and zoomed grassland, I now know why this is like crack to tortoises. One whiff of the smell and they are out eating already.

Also are opuntia fine to feed to my redfoot as part of the “salad” maybe 4 times a week? It goes for the cactus first every time.

I think it looks great. My rescue was definitely kept too dry by the first owner. She has much more pyramiding. Yours looks terrific to me.

Here she is (I think it’s a she) enjoying her own personal buffet bin. I put some tortoise mix seeds in different bins so my torts can enjoy then during sun time. She loves clover.
