What are long term consequences of cold nights on tortoises?

My sulcata will go outside when it is really cold. He likes snow, (he may not, may be just throwing a fit to express his displeasure that the grass is gone) but he does a walk around and goes back to his 80F shed. Short periods of cold are entirely different than long term exposure.
As for the blanket comment, you could point out the idiocracy of a blanket on a cold blooded creature.

Probably wouldn't do any good. One person said it was fine because they kept him out of the wind.
