My grand daughter wanted me to send pictures of the turtles and tortoises I have in the house, so I thought I'd share them with you all too. Not the best pictures because I'm sort of in a rush to get outside and do my morning chores.

First the baby leopards. These are just out of the incubator, not even a half hour, and already one is getting himself into trouble:

This is a young Texas tortoise, probably spending his last winter in the house. He's getting big enough now to be an outside tortoise:

These are three desert tortoises that hatched last September. They're well started and will be ready to adopt out this spring:

And finally a young Yellowfooted tortoise. He's about 4 years old now, and still pretty small. I told Jacqui (who has two from this same clutch that are small too) that we're going to have to start referring to them as "rare pygmy yellowfooted tortoises":

This one hatched yesterday. He's got an unusual carapace pattern. This clutch of babies is from a leopard that I thought might be babcock/SA, but her babies are all small and none ever look SA, so I guess I'm wrong about her. But I really like the looks of this one:

Leonard, Luki, LaKeisha, Leopoldo, Latif, Lafawnda and Lakin.....and Sterling!
With the exception of Leonard and Sterling, all good African names! I really doubt William will carry the names home with him. Can't you just see straight-laced William putting up the ad on Kapidolo Farms: 6 leopard babies, left to right: Luki, LaKeisha, Leopoldo, Latif, Lafawnda and Lakin. Order by name only! @Will

That’s right Gramma, these babies are order by name only. The ones that don’t sell are coming back to live with Leonard!!!

It's amazing how quickly they grow right out of the egg. The black one hatched two weeks before the rest of them, and the smallest one hatched one week after the rest of them. The smallest one is at the bottom of the soaking picture and to the lower right of the black one in the food picture. And in the food picture, even though I just took him out of the incubator this a.m., "Lobo", the newest one, is already eating!
