Treating Shellrot

Hope you guys can help me out on this. So i read that to treat shellrot i needed betadine and clotrimazole.
What i want to know is how do i apply betadine and the clotrimazole?

I swab it around the affected area
Place my tortoise on newspaper and wait for it to dry
Or do i leave it on for a couple of seconds or minutes then rinse it off?
I know betadine isnt good to use all the time since it can affect healthy tissue growth.

And for the anti-fungal cream

I apply it around the affected area
I wait for it to settle down or dry then i put my tortoise back in the enclosure.
Do i do this every day? And for how long?
And i also want to ask if there are any side-effects to keep in mind when using anti-fungal cream?
