I built a new dock for my turtles today. It's not finished but this will be the base. I think I want to cover it with terrarium grass and maybe some fake plants to make it look more natural, but I'm looking for some ideas too. It is W 16.5" x L 21". It was pretty easy total cost so far about $15.

I was going to do the same thing but since my turtle is so small, was going to cover the bottom with a thin rock base and add some foliage.
That's a good idea. I was also thinking maybe some slate tile cut to fit might look nice, and would help for a smaller turtle too

I designed this one to hang in the tank rather than sit on top, and because of this the slate is to heavy for the plastic to support it. So I just picked up some green felt and fitted the top with it. Total cost so far $17

They are sliders. One of them went up on it. The other three are still checking it out

Hey @Pearly I got a new little turtle and had to do some rearranging today so I finally got a chance to put my background on. How do you like it?

damn thats awesome. and i am also in the process of building one with the same material. However i am just barely getting ready to clean out a new aquarium i got which is 200 gallons and get it up and running for my little guys. so thanks for the pictures they really help me get a better idea of how i can proceed with the basking area.
