Box turtle for sure and leave it in the wild. It is native to Michigan and needs to be left in its spot it was found so it can help repopulate and replenish all the box turtles that was lost with the use of ddt years ago. So many animals were lost, birds, frogs, turtles, specially Box and that's just too name a few. Years later and they are finally coming back.

As was already said it's an eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina). There are pretty strict laws about taking them from the wild.

Some serious marginal scute flare on this Eastern! Different shell pattern it could almost be mistaken for a gulf coast...very cool!
