Where can I get this incredible enclosure?

I was looking up tables on yahoo and found this image. It looks incredible and has multiple stories.

Where can I buy something like this? This looks a lot better than using wood, and certainly seems to be less tools needed.

Looks like someone made it. Or its custom built. The shelves look like just normal shelves you can buy at home depot. It would be not to hard to build just a lot more expensive then wood or other materials all depends how much you want to spend.

I agree, custom made. If your handy you could build it. Using wood for frame and paint it black. Use plexiglass for the glass or a pretty thick glass so it can't easily break. It won't be cheap. For any adult tortoise it looks too narrow. For any tortoise that stays small enough should have at least a 4 foot wide.

Looks incredible except for the glass in the front which will drive the tortoises nuts.

It needs to have something blocking their view, otherwise if they see out of it, they will keep trying to get out of it.

Not true. That is a persistent myth. I, and many other experienced tortoise keepers, have been keeping them behind glass without issue for decades.

I have that shelving unit for my incubators.

Looks like they just painted theirs black and built enclosures on it.

I stand corrected!

To the OP, if you build it, please start a thread on here so we can all see the progress.

I tried switching a long term captive used to glass into a setup that she couldn't see out of, and it drove her crazy..she just wanted to get out. Once I put her back in a setup with a view, she was at ease.

Some of the more "tame" turtles and tortoises actually enjoy watching their 'people' move around the room, while others can't understand glass and keep trying to 'dig' through it, and yet others ignore it completely.

Sounds like your mileage may vary when it comes to a tort and glass . Good news is that you can always obstruct the view if glass is a problem. Personally I'd like to have a glass/clear front so that we can view each other lol.

lighted from the inside with light that is brighter than light from outside the enclosure and the glass reflects the view of the inside of the enclosure. I think that has more to do with it than anything else.

@Tom you have mentioned you like the inside of the enclosure to be bright, is it brighter than the ambient lighting in the room?

It is for me. None of the tortoises in glass front enclosure seem to want to climb through the glass. On occasion I have left the sliding glass door open when I go to get something, at best they walk up to the threshold and stop, just look out. No interest to walk away. All my enclosures are brighter inside than the ambient outside.

Yes, I believe they would be. During the day the room lights would be off, so only ambient light from windows. At night however, the room lights would be on after the cage lights go off, so in that case the room would be brighter. I'm referring to the hours of about 5-10 pm in the winter when it gets dark outside early, but tortoise lights still go off around 7pm. I've also seen no problem at these times.

The only time I've seen a problem is when a WC tortoise is plopped into a 40 gallon glass tank from a chain pet store. They make the same frantic efforts to escape in an opaque wooden box of that same size.
