so I’m a proud adoptive mom of I believe a sulcata tortoise named Fred. I will be redoing the cage he is in right now after we move and putting in coconut coir, Bermuda grass, and edible plants as well as building his future habitat for during the day so he can start getting used to it. Any advice besides handling him every day to get him used to me?

Welcome!

We have some great info for you to read. It's posted (pinned) at the top of our Sulcata section.

It’s getting him used to human touch that I am most curious about. Haven’t found any posts in the forum covering this topic. I hold him almost every day. Is this enough? I pet his head when he lets me and stroke his shell. Anything else I should do?

Be patient once your tort figures out your the food god you will be buddies. Now in the morning when I open Opo's enclosure. I put my hand down in the enclosure and Opo comes over so I can pick Opo up and take Opo out of the enclosure.
