I have a 4 month old sulcata. he was eating so much and healthy. he had calcium and a uvb light on for a majority of the day. has a heating pad on one side with a heat lamp over the middle. with a hide on the cold side. i have a picture attached. his substrate is a coconut coir substrate. he digs alot. but for the last week, ive noticed him not eating or drinking water. i soak him twice a day in warm water. he seems really inactive. i spray down his enclosure weekly to keep it moist and allow humidity. temperatures are at 90-95 during the day and 80-85 at night. what am i doing wrong? his plastron is turning grey and he’s not eating or being active much IMG_9571.jpgIMG_9597.jpg

The screen top is blocking uvb. It's basically an open top and the humidity can't possibly be 80%. I also wonder if your temps are accurate as heat is barely getting too the floor.
I think you need to get a temp gun and a good digital thermometer/hydrometer and read the temps at the substrate. You need to get the screen covered and the screen cut away from the uvb.
Give him a good warm soak with baby food carrot and piedialyte keeping him warm. Get things changed quick as he doesn't look good at all.
In fact it may be too late.

I wouldn't use a heating pad under any tortoise, but that isn't your issue.

Looks like you are using a cfl UV bulb. That could be a contributing factor.

What was the source of this tortoise and how was it started?

we got him at a reptile shop. he seemed healthy at first. but was up and down with eating. he was happy. we’d take him outside to roam around and he’d charge after our feet. nothing has changed from how we’ve treated him. he just stopped. his bulb is a exo terra dessert ubv 150.

Can we see pictures of the actual bulb you use for UVB?
I also wonder if your temperatures are accurate, the bulbs looks quite high up to achieve the temps you mention. How are you measuring temperatures?

We are all hoping the little guy pulls through for you. With the new care sheets and guidance, he could have a long happy future with you. How is he now?

we’ve started the carrot baby food and piedialyte soaks (2 times a day) and he seems to be opening his eyes more. even started to blow a few bubble in the water when i was looking at him (he does this to get my attention so i can pet him). moved the uvb bulb inside and covered up the rest of the area to keep heat and humidity inside. he seemed to move a little bit but still not doing the best. we’re getting something to add humidity to his enclosure. to keep it moisturized in there. really hoping he makes a full recovery

A 150 watt bulb is way too hot and bright for a baby. I like to use the tube type fluorescent bulbs. Also, baby tortoises should be kept in an overall warm enclosure, day and night, with no "hot side/cool side". I keep mine at 80-85F all the time.
