Old and new Intro

Hi Everyone. Thought I would post this here as I haven't posted in such a long time. I'm Robyn for those of you who do not know me. I am a mod on here but have been gone for some time. Josh was kind enough to let me take a long absence and get some much needed things accompished like looking and buying a new home. Moving and now I have been in the home 5 all most 6 months and haven't hardly unpacked yet. I have been working on the outside as our S. California weather has been pretty mild most of the summer. I have 19 tortoises at home right now. 1 CDT and the others are Med. Greeks. I did not have any hatchlings since I left as I had seperated the males and females as I knew things would be hectic. And I am glad I did. I lost 3 shortly after the move. For those of you who remember Lit'bit, I lost her sibling, a Texas Desert hatchling I had gotten from Yvonne and my old male Greek Rusty. That was a very sad couple of weeks.
Hand surgery, back problems and a new strained knee. But I seem to be on the mend and things are settleing down just a bit. I must admit I did some of my time during lunch and at breaktimes at work to moderate but I can't do that anymore, change in Computer service and infrastructure. So I plan to be back at least once or twice a week if not more. I posted in the Mod. section and Isa Posting the Robyn thread, I got very warm welcomes and I appreciate it. Looking forward to talking to some old friends and getting to know some new ones.
Oh and by the way if you wan't to see me at my turtle and Tortoise Club show which was Aug. 14th here I am on U-tube (who would have thought I would ever be on u-tube for something that wasn't Scandalous).

Welcome back Robyn. We all missed you and your posts. I know that you posted this nice video and I did watch it, but I really want to see pictures of your new home. I am so sorry that you lost 3 of your tortoises. I know that must have been a tough time on you.

Hey Robyn in the interests of helping anyone else who has to move, do you have any idea what caused the death of those 3 tortoises? Something to do with the move? Welcome back...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Maggie, No I don't feel the move had anything to do with it. Rusty the old man never seemed quite right from the time I aquired him, his could have just been age. Lil'Bits sibling wasn't doing well before the move,and I think may have had the same problem as Lil'Bit. But the Texas DT was a complete surprise. She was doing great and her shell was hardening. I had spoken to Yvonne about her and felt she was really doing fine. The next day she was gone.

When I moved the Torts I put them in plastic shoeboxes the same ones I soak them in, each in his/her own box. Then I drove them straight to the new house where they had pens set up waiting for them inside. After about a month I was able to move them all outside were they currently are. All are doing fine at this time.

Welcome back Robyn We really did miss you. Sorry to hear about the 3 tortoises, but glad you are all settled in finally.
