Feeling sad and furious, does anyone know what I can do about a man selling a baby tortoise on offerup?? This man clearly has no clue, can't tell what kind of tortoise it is by the pictures but it's very clear that it has a deformed shell and the man is not feeding it properly. He is trying to sell it for $75.

Let's just hope that someone will get it and take care of it.
You can also report it because no animals can be sold on Offer Up from what I've seen.

That's really good to know, I was not sure if they could especially since he looks so small. I'm sure the little guy has bone disease.[emoji20] His shell is so deformed. I hope someone does. Thank you.Screenshot_20180904-162331.jpeg

It's awful deformed for how small it is. It's a box turtle of some kind not a tortoise.
Try to contact the person and let him know what he really has.

I just sent him a message thank you so much for your help. Knowing that's a box turtle makes me even more sad. I just wish people would do their research before getting any pet.

I just checked and Offer Up does not allow animals to be sold.
The only problem with turning him in for trying too sell on a site that doesn't allow it, is it won't get sold. Leaving the poor thing in the hands of a person that doesn't know anything about its care.
If anything the OP should suggest Craigslist or fauna classifieds.

I tried to tell him about giving it to a rescue and just selling the enclosure and accessories, however he did not respond.

That's a terribly deformed box turtle. Amazing how badly deformed he is for how young he is.

Yes, that is what originally caught my attention (nerves). It's heartbreaking to say the least.

I hope that poor little baby got the care he needed

Surprisingly box turtles can be very resilient as long as they can get the proper care in time.
