russain tortoise substrate query's

i have will be buying a 6 months old russian tortoise and i live in pakistan so subrates which comes in packets are not found here so i have some wet soil and i added some fertilezer in it .It makes a very good humid enviroment .I just want to know that before adding my tortoise is the substrate ok for him

Do not let your tortoise go near that substrate with fertiliser in it.
Just plain soil would be better.

why the fertilezer holds more humidity

yes it is compost fertilezer and i have used seive to make its particles like sand
and also soil is seived too

My substrate is a mixture of coco coir and sterilised top soil.
I would be very careful with fertiliser as you don’t know what has been used in the composting process, could material that has been used be poisonous to your tortoise... you wouldn’t know unless you know exactly what is in it.

Do you have a garden where you could just use some plain soil?
