I have inherited a tortoise but have no idea what breed she is. Apparently she is a female. She is quiet big, around 25 to 30 cm long. I need some advice about hibernation as from what I have read not all tortoise breed hibernate. She is eating a lot less at the moment. If you know what type of tortoise this is I would love to know. She's very lumpy so I've started giving her cuttlefish fish bone for calcium.

Your tortoise appears to be a Greek tortoise, Testudo graeca. It is impossible to determine which subspecies based on the one photo. If possible please provide a photo of your tortoise's carapace (top shell) from straight above, with a measurement reference (ruler, tape measure) next to it. As well as a photo of it's plastron (bottom shell) from straight on. A head photo would be helpful too. These views will help to identify it more accurately.

Here are some more photos. I have also weighed her and she is 10 pounds. I looked up Greek tortoises and they are only around 5 pounds. She has spurs on her back legs.

It's a Greek tortoise. There are quite a few sub species. What happened to her front leg?

thank you. Apparently she got tangled in brambles and the scales on her legs must have got pulled off. I've put vet wrap on it and antibiotic cream and it does heal but then she rubs the skin with her shell and it opens up again.
