I can't be sure from your pictures. They both have a female overall shape, and the larger should be big enough to sex. I can't see the tail of either one in your pictures. The anal and supracaudal is looking pretty female in the larger one, but would love to see the tail to be sure. The smaller one looks like it could still go either way - again, seeing the tail could help but at just over 3" it is too small for me to be sure. Since it is smaller and reportedly the same age, it would tend to point to a male, but seeing the extreme deformity (wrinkling) in the plastron, it looks to me that it may have been started way too dry and could be smaller for that reason.
so the bigger one is certainly a female and the other is too small to identify him? I will ask the breeder if i can have some tails pics.
i forgot to give you the weight. around 200 grs for the small and 700 for the bigger.
He told me that the bigger is older thsn the other ( just few months) and i don't know how they have been started.
I was wondering what you have to pay for them since you are in Europe like me? If you don't want to tell me, that is ok.
The smaller one has a terrible plastron. Poor thing!!
And I hope you won't be keeping them together all the time.
The care in Europe for Stars is still very poorly in my opinion.
I don't know if you read the caresheets on Indian Star Tortoises on this forum yet? If you are planning on breeding them, I really hope you do!! It can save your hatchlings. Give them a very good start. I am not trying to be rude or anything, just know how the care is here in Europe. They start them way to dry, sell them by the pair...
To end on a good note, Good luck with your new Stars!! *glimlach* I love this species!!
