I totally agree with this. People who want to designate their tortoise as their emotional support animal are being selfish and not taking the tortoise's well being into the equation at all.

Not to mention how much they crap when their stressed. That ought to go over real good. The whole ESA thing was a decent idea when it first originated, but it's been totally blown out of proportion now. I'm sure it wasn't intended to allow every single species of animal that can be held board a plane, which is what it's turning in to. The cat people will argue it's unfair to let dogs on. The lizard people will argue that dogs and cats are allowed on. The tarantula people will argue that dogs, cats and lizards are allowed on. Eventually logic needs to draw the line.

I think it's getting out of hand. A plane was just delayed today because of an emotional support squirrel. It's getting ridiculous and people are taking advantage of it just too take their pet with them. It seems people are also trying to have the weirdest/most unusual one too. It needs too stop!

I agree. It also, is frowned upon in the mental health field now because it's become a joke and people's animals are a liability to the companies who prescribe them. On my company is rare that a therapist, psychiatrist, or psychologist will prescribe one due to these issues.

Any tamed animal in my opinion can be a ES animal.

Yes legally, but that doesn't mean every animal should be an ESA. Like I said you can tame caiman and teach it to obey, but that doesn't mean it should be an ESA.

This is a little off topic but...
I am a caregiver for a woman with fairly advanced dementia and she has a small dog that really calms her when she gets confused and anxious. The dog is obviously very good for her but I can't take my eyes off the woman for a second without her feeding the dog anything and everything. She also gets a bit combative when I stop her from feeding the dog. The dog is over weight and really shouldn't eat any more people food/ junk food. I do my best to manage the food and watch closely but I feel bad that the poor dog's health is suffering. This is one of the situations where the benifit of the animal to the person is at a cost to the animal and it's difficult for me.
I don't really have a point, just sharing a story.

Hmmm. Just saw something about this on the news and they said the airlines didn't accept reptiles along with several other warm blooded critters. Frankly I have to wonder how all these growing multitudes of snowflakes survived before this ever came up? Whatever happened to standing on your own 2 feet and facing life head on?

I was just thinking Can a turtle or a Tortoise be a Emotional Support Animal... And what it take's... When I have a Vary Bad Day spending time with Big Sexy our RES he just Brighton's my Day... So I think Turtles And Tortoises would make Great Emotional Support Animals...
Having a bad day is very different from people like me that need the emotional support animals all the time. I have ptsd and can't go outside my home with out having a shutdown. The package you found are fake. You need a dr. approval for something like this. People are making a mockery of this seeing which is the craziest animal to be seen with. I hate this.
