hello! I recently found a hatchling musk turtle stuck under a firelog in my yard. He survived a cold night the other night and is missing his entire front right arm/leg. Ive put him in a small makeshift habitat with some shallow swimming water, food, drinking water, and a dry rock to climb up on. He seems quite active but very small and i will need to purchase a heat lamp and better enclosure for him very soon if i cant find him a home soon. Would anyone like to adopt Gimpy in louisiana (baton rouge denham springs area) ??

I might. (Darn you, harris! :p ) But hubby and I are going out of town very shortly, so RIGHT NOW is not possible. If I took him, it would have to be AFTER Nov.8, when we're back.
We're in Covington.
Have you considered keeping him yourself?

I need to add that I need to discuss any new family additions with my hubby since he has to share in the care.
Currently, I'd say it's 50:50 that we might take him (or not).

Also: is the area of the missing limb healed or still an open wound?
and how long is he in inches?

I brought up Gimpy’s situation with hubby, and unfortunately, we will not be able to take him.
I’m sorry I couldn’t help. [emoji20]

Very best wishes to both you and little Gimpy.[emoji173]️

I believe its mostly healed but im worried about it cause i think maybe theres a tad bit of bone still exposed. I dont know what to do for him though.. hes only a little less than an inch long.

Still open for adoption because i simply dont have very much time to care for him as needed but am doing my best for him. Anyone PLEASE let me know if you'd like to take the lil guy in. You can have his current setup- except for the lamp fixture which i borrowed from my boyfriend
