If only my camera had a video function. It's so fun watching all those little mouths chomp, chomp at the same time:

desert tortoise babies 11-12-18.jpg

This morning's meal consists of Mazuri, romaine, green leaf, radicchio, endive, escarole, mulberry leaves, gai lan, mustard greens, zucchini, carrot, red gem, red oak leaf lettuce and green tango lettuce. The reddish babies came from here and the others came from SoCal. When I got them they were brand new with no growth. Now look at the growth space, and I've only had them a week!

The tiny box turtle in the right corner of the 'shoe box' was the size of a U.S. nickel. I've been feeding him for about 2 weeks and now he's the size of a quarter. He gets the same thing I feed the baby tortoises, but I mix in some juice from canned cat food to flavor all the greens, and some moistened turtle pellets. They're just so darned cute!!!!!!!

Omg I love them. Please the one in the middle... haha did you place it there or did it make its way out of the ring of tiny tortoises?

Somehow I think the US desert tortoise are more idea pet then sulcata because they have the perfect size for most of the family.
