I found this little guy about September in the box turtle yard. He was about the size of a U.S. nickel coin - so tiny, I don't know how I saw him out there. He lives in a plastic shoe box in the desert tortoise babies' Vision Cage and eats fruit and veg chopped fine and mixed with cat food juice. The sides of his house are a bit water spotted, but if you look closely you can see him:

Dang it. I wish I had taken that first picture in the soaking tub. He's doubled in size in his three month on this earth:

Hi diet is the same food I make up for the leopard babies (various weeds and greens), but I also add the juice from a can of cat food and occasionally some fruit. He eats it readily, and even eats while I'm watching him. He spends a lot of time in the front corner of the shoe box looking at the baby desert tortoises. It looks like he's saying, "Hey mom! Can I go out and play with the big kids?"

This baby is growing SO fast! He's only eight months old and look at him now:

He barely fits inside his Solo drinking cup. Here's a better picture. He's almost as big as the desert tortoise babies:

It's funny the states with no native boxy species seems like unlimited. I could prob have 1,000 if I had the room.

Well, we all know why he's thriving and growing so nice.....look who found him!! How ya doing Yvonne? I found a lot of egg shells this Spring, so I know they're in there someplace.

Hey, Terry! We've missed you here. I hope all is well with you and winter wasn't too harsh on your property and animals. This little baby is now bigger than the desert tortoise babies. He's really too big to be living in that shoe box, but getting him out of it means setting up a whole new enclosure for him. That's a project for another day.
