For bedding we use a combo of coconut soil and cypress mulch. There's also sphagnum moss. We just noticed a bright tiny little green sprout with two leaves growing. Any ideas on what it is? Would it be safest to remove it?

I'd like to keep it in there if it is safe, just because he doesn't have any other plants in there currently.

I can plant all day long, they will grow for months, and Nyx just hides in it. I grew sulcata food seed mix and she just laid in it.

I’m mentally making 4yr old faces and sticking my tongue out at you !!!!

It actually got to the point where if didn't cut the grasses and weeds they were going to rot. So, I had to cut all of it feed it to her and pull the rest as it wasn't growing anymore. I also, put organic cat grass in her enclosure and she didn't eat nor did she hide in it. I had to cut that up and put in her dish also. I was really hoping to see her destroy it, but nope. What you could do is scoop out the plant and substrate around it and put it in a separate pot until you can find out what it is. Not sure if that's been suggested or not.

I'm so excited to see what it will be! But I'm awful at keeping plants alive. Now that I've noticed it, I wonder if I jinxxed it and it'll die on me:p

You don't have a cat anywhere nearby do you... or the cat would have destroyed the cat grass on your tort's behalf! :p
