I'm at a loss on this one - I would wager it is some Solanum
Thank you for the suggestion- I think you are right!!

I found this picture & some information on the
Jerusalem Cherry (Solanum pseudocapsicum).

An upright herbaceous plant or small shrub usually growing 0.3-1 m tall, but occasionally reaching up to 2 m in height.

The fruit is a rounded berry (10-15 mm across) and turns from green to yellow and eventually bright orange-red as it matures. Each fruit contains numerous white or pale yellow seeds (3-4 mm long).

Fruit is mildly poisonous but not deadly.

Thanks to everyone for your help-
Definitely NOT for torts or turts!!!

Sorry, I am sure your plant is not S. pseudocapsicum. That plant never gets as large as your plant in question.
There are many edible Solanum, and it is likely yours is one of those.
There are chapters of the North American Fruit Explorers, all over Florida. Also California Rare Fruit Growers has a lot of knowledgeable people. Reach out to them.

Interesting..

I looked at and read about Solanum the other day and was going to throw it out, but it just didnt seem to match what we have, especially the citrus-like leaves. But, as @Iochroma notes, there are a ton of sub-species.
  • Solanum is a large and diverse genus of flowering plants, which include three food crops of high economic importance, the potato, the tomato and the eggplant. It also contains the nightshades and horse nettles, as well as numerous plants cultivated for their ornamental flowers and fruit.
All interesting....

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what these might be?
They are growing on a bush in South Florida and are about 1/2" round.
They are full of tiny white seeds & have a sweetish taste.
They smell like a tomato but dont have any leaves where the stem meets the fruit, like the tomato does.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
