But your information is wrong. Most Any dog ending up as a rescue was never treated or trained properly. If you or your rescue are promoting this information you are not helping the dogs and are giving out wrong bad info. A dog with anxiety needs to be trained properly. A dog with anxiety can freak out because the owner was gone for 5 seconds. Proper training will prevent this, not a person showing up 4 hours later. A lot of animal/dog rescues have no business rescuing animals. Their hearts in the right place but they don't have the knowledge to do a proper job.

I volunteer at the The Dogs Trust, a large and reputable rehoming in the UK.

Anyways, not sure why this has all gotten a bit argumentative and I’m sorry to have caused offence but I was just trying to caution the OP that 8hours is a long time to leave a dog on its own.

Nothing to be sorry about. A friendly debate, no anger here.

Also, do you know anything about her history? What have the shelter told you and have they done any assessments on her? She looks like a lovely dog and I hope you can adopt her but, as I said, you need to make sure you’re the right person for her before bringing her home.
The worler there said she is snapper im not sure if she meant with dogs, but she also snaps at them. Except for that her history is unknown since she was found stray and not owner surrender.

What do they mean by snapper? That she tries to bite the people who work at the shelter and/or other dogs?
Or just that she doesn’t take food out of a persons hand very gently?
Do you have any small children in the family?

No small children, she just said she snaps not sure if towards humans or dogs ,but im sure its dogs, because she seemed rlly friend when i went to pet her in her kennnel. This Thursday we are going to do a meet and greet. I currently dont have any dogs as the oldest died and the other j gave to friend since his dog died and u felt bad.

No dog can be left alone for 8 hours a day. 4 hours is the most a dog can be left alone, although many can’t cope with that.

This is a huge all encompassing statement. Some animals are fine for extended periods of time....not each and every day always and forever....but a working household certainly can have a dog that also gets use to the household schedule. However, if you have a working type breed and also young, then you will want to assure there is a break in alone time....

I hope the meet and greet on Thursday goes well. Try to get as much info from the shelter as possible and ask if they run any training classes/assessments or similar. And ask in what situations she has been known to snap.
It sounds like if she snaps, be it at people or other dogs, some professional training classes would be a good idea. In the uk a lot of shelters run these classes so it might be worth asking or many vets can recommended them, not sure if it’s different in the US.
