It seems we ought to have some sort of state by state list of who holds/breeds and if they have a CBW permit or not. If you do have a permit it's already public domain knowledge.

Make it a sticky at the top of this section?

Two kinds of posts in it, a list of those who want to say what they have, and a post like yours @H2447INTX of wants per state.

"Radiated tortoises by state"

??? @Yvonne G ???

I'd be happy to go first, or maybe @H2447INTX want to? But you're the sticky post person.

The Knoxville Zoo may have some surplus Radiated Tortoises from time to time. You can ask them. Also, the Radiated Tortoise studbook keeper works there and may know of owners/breeders in various states as well as in TN.

The Memphis Zoo also used to breed Radiated Tortoises. I haven't heard much about their program in a number of years, though.

I am not certain if the Tennessee Aquarium may also hold some Radiated Tortoises or not.

We can't just arbitrarily put up names of people we know who breed certain species of tortoise without that person's permission. Most people are quite private, and when it comes to an expensive species like the radiata, it really would be best to get permission. I'm quite happy to put up names of our members who contact me and let me know it's ok to add them to our State list, but I won't do it without permissions.

That is why it would be voluntary, your the sticky person, I would not figure it would be up to you to do the actual posting.

A volatility list of state to state breeders is a good idea.

Maybe offer it for.other species as well.

I only asked because someone was asking me and he was in Tennessee.

Well, we already HAVE a breeder list sub forum under our tortoise breeding forum.

That would be for breeders and that is great. But riddle me this? If i had, say, a radiated and can only sell it in Ca, but hadn't gotten around to posting it for sale, as I'm exhausted from the hords of tire kickers, just a list of 'having' would allow someone else in the state to seek a sale. No breeding involved.

My response was because H2447INTX had specifically asked about breeders.

. . . and now, after thinking about it for a while, I'm not sure if I weren't a breeder trying to sell babies, I would be thrilled to have my name as a radiata keeper on a list that shows up on the internet.

Thanks! I’ve reached out and haven’t heard back from those places
You will likely have to pursue them. Most zoos don't want to deal with the public. You will have to be persistent to make something happen.
