A car ride? That’s not a joke? The G’s make the poop come out? You brake harder for better efficiency?
I have the same trouble with most of my passengers!
I think it's something to do with the vibrations making torts nervous, which is why I find just gently rocking my Lola's bath often has the same effect.
At least that's my theory - probably something completely different.

Take the tortoise to a potentially embarrassing location/situation. 45 years ago, while a college student, I was enrolled in a Speech class, where, as you might suspect, you had to give prepared speeches. We were encouraged to speak on topics we were familiar with and might have knowledge that the class-at-large did not have. I decided on speaking about red-foot tortoise husbandry / natural history, and decided to bring one of my adult red-foots to class as exhibit A. The speech only had to last 8-10 minutes, but I was concerned the tortoise would wander off the stage while I spoke. So I brought the biggest banana I could find (his favorite food), peeled it, and placed in front of the tortoise as I spoke. As the speech was nearing completion the audience (it was a large class of 50-75 students) began to snicker and then laugh out-loud. I couldn't figure out why until I glanced down and realized the banana consumption had triggered a monster bowel movement in the tortoise which was now laying on the carpeted floor for all to see. At least I got an A on the speech...

Everything is back to normal. I think maybe Opo wasn't getting long enough outside time during my surgery and a few days after. Hopefully in the next few weeks Opo will be out fulltime. The recovery of my surgery is going slower than I expected.
Thanks for your concern.

Man. 45 years ago Redfoot were a mystery to most hobbyists.
That's still the era of cool Menthol cigarettes being good for your health....

I’m glad Opo is on the right track and I’m so sorry your recovery is not going as you’d hoped. I’m sure it’s very frustrating. Try to stay positive. Miss reading your awesome sense of humor!!!

Yep. Mostly trial and error since so little information was available. In a perverse way, it was almost good: There was so little info around, there wasn't much BAD info to trip you up. All we knew was keep 'em warm - humidity was never even a consideration. UVB? Never heard of it. Balanced Diet? They LOVE bananas; just keep peeling them and keep 'em happy! When should you bring them inside for the winter? 45-50 degrees seems about right? It is astounding how much we did not know, and just as puzzling how the torts survived our sorry attempts at husbandry...

Regular warm water soaking , daily or every other day will help . They must drink water . Hydrate pelleted food and be careful with the type of calcium you add . I only use human grade food sources of calcium. Small Torts will only drink from a soak until they get used to a fresh bowl of water . Mine do not like ice cold water .
Good luck !

Sugar is bad for Torts . Low sugar fruits and occasional watermelon & cantaloupe.
Blueberrys are low sugar.

LOL.. "I have the same trouble with most of my passengers". Id say if your passengers are pooping, you should slow down!

Opo gets soaked everyday. Everything is back to normal now. I had someone caring for Opo for 4 days will I was recovering from surgery. I think the difference in care might have thrown him off. Thanks for the info on the fruits. Opo rarely gets it but now I know of low sugar fruits.
