When everyone says the enclosure size should be 4x8 for a sulcata hatchling, do they mean about this size? (the white grid) IMG_20190311_155940.jpeg

If you didn't notice, I typed "4x8" which means I know the number, not how it should really be

i noticed. if you knew the number youd know how big it’s actually meant to be, hence why i put it in CM seeing as your info says youre from hong kong so i figured you might not know the whole feet thing. either way it’s supposed to be as big as a full uncut sheet of plywood.

I don't understand why your getting smart with someone replying trying to help with your question. If you know how big 8x4 is, then get a measuring tape and measure the space in question?

Now that you mentioned it, I noticed I actually contradicted myself. Sorry for that.

I think 4'x8' is quite the overkill for a hatchling. I don't know where that figure came from. I know most of us say 4'x8' minimum for an adult Russian, but for a hatchling of any species? I'm not onboard with that.

The thing is, sulcata hatchlings grow quickly and a smaller tub is outgrown in no time, so go as big as you can at first and you won't have to make it bigger in a hurry. But 4'x8'? I don't think one needs to start out that big for a hatchling.

i agree that it seems a bit big, but figured id answer the question. im sure the tort wouldnt be unhappy with 4’x8’ though ;)
