We have 2 African Sulcata Baby Torts that we have had for 7 months, we got them right after they were born. They are the cutest and love to cuddle in the evening before bed. They love to be outside and have a little fit if they are not ready to go inside. We have an indoor glass case for them at night and if we are gone. We do not have the bottom of the glass covered because they do not like it if they can’t see whats going on in the house! We usually let them roam in the living room when we are home and it’s too cold to be outside! They are the best little pets we have ever had, the don’t bark, meow or beg for food!

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest you go to our Sulcata Tortoise section and read the care sheets. From what you are sayings, you have gotten some outdated and wrong info for raising them. We have experienced people here which have done this for many years with info to back up what they say. We will not lead you wrong. Good luck.

Welcome! Please give these a read-

Sadly, from what it sounds like, there are a lot of things that need to be changed.

-your two need to be separated ASAP. Tortoises, especially Sulcatas, are solitary, territorial creatures that should never be kept in pairs. The “cuddling” you see is one tortoise trying to push and stress the other out of it’s territory, not cute.

- your tortoises sound much too young to be outdoors all day. A good rule of thumb is 1 hour per inch of shell, with the rest of the time spent indoors in a warm, humid enclosure.

-you should definitely not be letting your tortoises roam the floor. It is extremely dangerous, and does much more harm than good. Read this for more info-

Please read those links ASAP. We would be thankful if you could post pictures of your tortoises and enclosures :)
