Hey I'm currently in the process of building a night shed for a sulcata because I want to rescue one
I read here on the forum that 1 acre of space would be enough room to keep a few adult sulcatas
But I also read that tortoises should not be kept in pairs

Does that mean groups of sulcatas also don't work?

How many males and females in one group would be good if it was doable?

How long should I separate them till I can be sure no one has an illness?

I just see so many sulcatas that need rescuing in my area and since I have the space I would be happy to help them live a beautiful life :)

Although I can't really help with anything, I have to say that you're a caring selfless person.
I've seen someone saying that keeping 3 or more torts in the same enclosure would not cause much problem, but in my opinion, I think they shouldn't be kept together. I've seen torts fighting each other even though there are more than 2 of them. This happens especially when the torts have significant size differences, the large ones tend to beat all the other small ones.

If you're going to 'rescue' sucatas I'll give you what I've experienced during my many years of ttoise rescue: The females are few and far between. In all the time I rescued tortoises, I only took in two female sulcatas and too many males to remember without looking at my log. This means a separate yard for each sulcata rescued.

You might divide the yard into two. @Tom built a double nightbox that had entrances on each side so 2 tortoises could share the same heat. The tortoises were separated by a wall.
