I will travel to New York next week. I think some of you come from America ;) and maybe from New York. Is there anything I have to visit? Especially zoos etc with reptiles / turtles?
I will also buy mazuri because it isn’t available here and I’ll try to feed it to my turtles. Is it available in a normal pet shop?

Hi Juli, I'm not in NY but haven't seen you on TFO for a while.
Hope all is well with you and your torts.
Have a good trip!

I've been watching a weekly TV show featuring the Bronx Zoo. That would be worth a visit.

The Bronx zoo is worth two days of visiting. Many great art museums in NYC, and the American Museum of Natural History. Lots of great architecture too.

The 'big box' pet shops like PetSmart and PetCo have small bags of Mazuri at a high price compared to the mail order option. The idea of mail order to where you will stay is a more economical idea, some already mentioned.

You can find small bags of the LS version of Mazuri at pet shops. For the original, which most torts prefer, you have to order.

Yeah - The Bronx Zoo is worth the trip. You should also visit the American Museum of Natural History. That place is amazing.

Thank you for all ideas! The zoo is definitely a place I’ll visit. The museum too! I was never out of Europe so it will be an interesting trip :D okay that difficult. Maybe I have to order it on Monday so I’ll get it until we fly home. Mazuri is very very difficult I think..

Juli, I think the best skyline view is up at the “Top of the Rock” (The Rockerfeller Center) at night. Fantastic views over Manhattan.

A walk in Central Park is a must. I personally love the The Met; my favourite of the galleries.

The Staten Island Ferry is free and gives you a good view of the Statue of Liberty

For the paid-for big name sights, it is worth booking in advance online. It saves a long time waiting in queues!

And cheesecake. Don’t forget the cheesecake!

Oh and go to Grand Central Station even if you don’t need a train. It’s amazing!
Some old friends of mine got married at Grand Central Station a few years ago.
Just them and a couple of witnesses.
