I would suggest a layer of round stones, not so big to break the glass. The turtle will get enrichment looking between all the stones. You can add fish, rainbow fish are a native to the range of pignose, and they look great. If you can find a whole small tree/shrub that is dead, submerge it so the fish can evade the turtle, by moving in and among the branches. You can use live plants, both floaters and from the bottom up, but the turtle will eat them and break them up.

I have used hyacinth and anacharis. They will eat at both.

Fake plants can be used with a few cautions. Sometimes they have wire to support the branches and leaves, if they become exposed the turtle can injure themself on them. There are fake plants specific for aquariums, but they tend to be wimpy. Silk is made with dyes that leach out into the water - stay away from silk plants.

You should most likely use these:
- Sand (around 2-3inch layer)
- Rocks (large)
- REAL PLANTS NOTE: DO NOT use fake plants with pnt as they eat all plants
- Do not put pnt with arowana, gar, rtc, predatory fish (monster fish) Especially stingrays, they kill the fish by biting there fins to when they cannot swim anymore and it will cause the fish so much stress it will jump, etc. There are some fish that u can keep with PNT but keep in mind, no long fins, fast fish, do not put grouping fish that are big as they have a tendency to kill/injury your pnt, like my pnt was with chilids when it was young and they killed it.

Thanks!
