Hey guys! I'm building Hannibal an outdoor enclosure now that it's getting hot here in FL again. He's young so he won't be out full time, but I want him to be okay outside when I'm not there, so it's going to be totally escape and predator proof. Anyway, what are some plants I could put in there that he'd be able to eat. I have a strawberry plant with no chemicals, but it doesn't grown fruit. Would the leaves be okay since there's no chemicals? And also some others please! I'm willing to grow from seeds!

Weeds of all types. Dandelions leaves and flowers from seed,(don't plant the seeds, leave on top of fresh ground, they will sprout and thrive!) Plantain, wide and narrow leaf, seeds on eBay. Mallow weeds,(leaves and flowers a big favorite of all ages, seeds planted. Light planting of white and crimson clover, leaves and flowers, plant lightly and lightly rake soil over seeds, pumpkin and any squash planted in ground per seed planting instructions, leaves, flowers and the fruit all relished by sulcata, seeds hold healthy deworming capacity.
Sorry, I'm runny out of steam. This should be a good start for you. All of this should be planted with a good base of mixed grasses for grazing. I'll continue to check this thread and add to it as I remember more common weeds/plant. Oh, and if Aloe Vera grows outdoors, plant some and the same goes for spider plants and most supplements.
The big thing to keep in mind when buying from a nursery, they are in business to sell good looking, healthy plants. As a result, they fortify the plants with fertilizer and insecticides. Plant these outside of the enclosure at the least 6-12 months to ensure they are safe for your tortoise. Remember, perilight those white water retention grains in commercial potting soil is deadly when eaten by tortoises, and they will eat it.
