Hello, I've had a hermann hatchling for about 2 months and she adjusted really well when she got here. However for the past two days, all she does is sleep even when I soak her and won't eat except for maybe a nibble or two if I put food in front of her. I usually feed her a variety of baby green mixes, kale, viola flowers and the occasional dandelion with calcium powder about every other day. Her stools have also gotten mushy lately. She is usually quite active and takes maybe a nap or two during the day so this seems unusual and I'm afraid she might be sick, as this is my first tortoise. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It probably has something to do with your temperatures. When tortoises get lethargic it's usually because they're cold

Thanks for respondong. The warm side is about 80 deg F with the basking spot at 90 and the cool side at 70 ish. I have a uvb/heat bulb suspended on the hot side I'll include pics for reference. I read on another post somewhere that my Coco coir might b getting too dry and irritating her? I try to keep the humidity around 35-50 spraying it throughout the day

I would advise you to go to the Sulcata Section and read the care sheets for sulcata/ leopard babies. They should have a much higher humidity, 80 to 100 %, and the basking temp should be 95 to 100.

This is not a sulcata or a leopard. I realize there may be some similarities to their care but they are from different parts of the world and I would rather not base information off of care sheets/info for a different species. The care sheet on this forum also suggests 60-80% for babies, so yes I am a little low but I don't think she needs 80-100%. I don't know how you would even achieve that high.

Sorry, mis read, thought it was a leapard. You can achieve 80 to 100 % humidity with a closed chamber. But, go by what the Herman’s care sheet says. I don’t raise Herman’s . Don’t want to send you in the wrong direction :)

Update: I added more substrate and added a lot of moisture to it, then lowered the lamp a little which seemed to help her wake up, she is now walking around at least but she is still not eating. Can anyone please offer some insight?
