Russian tortoise— is this shell rot? Or am I paranoid?

hey guys, so I was giving my Basil a soak today and i noticed that there is this peeled patch (mildly indented) is this shell rot? Or is this just natural growth for the little guy?

That shell looks pretty good. Nothing to worry about. Russians tend to have lumpy bumpy shells.

Shell rot is usually on the plastron (bottom shell).

Wild caught Russians—which is most of what we own in the U.S.—are all relatively dingy and scratched up. They spend a lot of time bumping around rocks and rocky soil. Like LaLa said, that’s a pretty good looking shell for a wild caught.
