Ps. I am sorry for my weird english. English is not my native language.

Guys, i think my aldabra's eyes have something, both of them, in his upper part.
I give you pictures to help me (below).
I have feeling since he was younger that maybe he can't see well. This is because if i hand feed him, sometimes he can't get it correctly. I have only one aldabra, and i can't do comparison with other aldabra which makes me think that it is their nature. My sulcata get the food on point when i hand feed him.
Then this greenish thingy (look at the picture, upper part of the eyes) is there since he was younger (i forgot if it is there when i first got him). I think now it is spreading a little bit or maybe just the same. But what worries me is i think he is being disturbed by it now. He only came out from his hide occasionally. He has appetite but not as good as what i expected.
Can anybody help me what can i do.
My country sucks, i don't believe vet here. I trust you guys more than vet here.
@Yvonne G @Tom can you help me, or others that you guys can tag them to this thread. thank you very much.

ps. click the picture to see clearly, last picture show how the greeny thing blend to the eye and kinda looks like covering his eyes. It's been a long time like that. i just thing maybe it is slightly get bigger?

Are you sure it's not a little piece of lettuce floating on the eyeball? It's not a membrane, but I've never seen this before (the nictitating membrane, or third eyelid, comes out from the corner of the eye on the nose side). In the last picture, it almost looks like an ulcer on the eyeball.

The only thing I can think to do is flush the eye with sterile saline solution (you can buy it online from contact lens supplies) daily, then apply a soothing ointment, which you also can buy online. I use this one:

eye ointment b.jpg

Does it seem to bother him? Is he rubbing his eyes with his front legs?

Yvonne G, post:

Ans: yes i am sure it is not lettuce or anything that stuck on his eyeball.

Yes his third eyelid doing fine, exactly like what you said, comes out from the corner of the eye on the nose side. This has nothing to do with the third eyelid.

In the last picture, it almost looks like an ulcer on the eyeball.
What is ulcer? Last pic shows exactly how it looks like in real life.

The only thing I can think to do is flush the eye with sterile saline solution (you can buy it online from contact lens supplies) daily, then apply a soothing ointment, which you also can buy online. I use this one:
Then this two product is safe if the tortoise accidentally sip the solution? Are there any other soothing ointment i can use if i can't find what you are using?

Does it seem to bother him? Is he rubbing his eyes with his front legs?
He is rubbing sometimes if he is eating. It means 2 thing to me, whether he got disturb by the food when eating (maybe i don't see debris on his face and here comes the rubbing) Or he thinks something (this green thingy) disturbing his vision to look at the food.
In the morning, sometimes he rubs his face too (not that often though), like when we are woke up to clear our eyes. But other than that, he never bothers.

This adult aldabra have the eyes exactly the same like my juvenile aldabra, in upper part, greenish thingy like eye lid, but they looks attach directly to the eyeballs. Is this a norm @ALDABRAMAN ?

The picture of Greg's tortoise just looks like light reflecting in the eyeball.

An ulcer would be an injury to the eye.

aldabra weird green eye.jpg
this is exactly the same with mine. see how the things like greenish jelly kinda covering the outer side of black eyeball. i see my aldabra's eyes carefully this morning and yes it is circle-ing the eyeball with upper part more obvious (just like greg / aldabraman adult aldabra). is this just aldabra's eyes? imagine if this greenish jelly become thicker or start to covering the eyes more and more, and this is what i am afraid of.

~ I really can't tell form the picture you provided, if it is an eye issue get it checked and treated as fast as possible. We had one get an eye issue, we found it fast and made every effort to treat it. It ended up needing surgery and being removed.

Wow look at your giant @ALDABRAMAN , They are so amazing! After look at several not really close up pic from internet and your video really confirm it. I can 100% say that what i am worried about is really just part of aldabra's eyes. So my little giant has nothing to worry about.
Amazing they have such complicated layer of eyes.
Thanks a lot aldabraman.

~ So sweet, no stress here....we make every effort to minimize stress......
