I want to know if Geckos are friendly to tortoise?
this night a Gecko appeard in my house this kind of Gecko is harmful for humans I am not sure I know the exact name of it in English but it can cause harmful diseases for humans and all food that is not covered and left outside must be thrown away as it can cause death if its poison was on the food and someone ate it.
it can also cause leprosy desise and alot of bacterial and germs infections but I am a little bit woried about the new tortoise egg

Animals like that usually don't harm multiple species. But considering what it does, get rid of it immediatly

There is no gecko that leaves poison behind or causes leprosy. Worse case, salmonella is possible, but not likely.

Geckos, or other wildlife, in the general vicinity of your tortoise should not be harmful. Try to prevent contact, and prevent the geckos from going in your tortoise enclosure and leaving feces. Parasites and bacterial infection are a possibility for your tortoise if it eats the gecko's droppings.

Depending on what species your tortoise is, they require different care. If you keep both in the same habitat then one will ultimately fail to thrive, plus as Tom said the gecko may be a host to all kinds of parasites.

If I'm understanding correctly, you're not wanting to actually keep the lizard, but you're worried he may have left behind some sort of toxin. Your tortoise egg will be fine. Don't worry about it.

I think the only animal the you can get leprosy from is an armadillo. The lizard may have bacteria that might give you salmonella, but leprosy is not a worry with lizards.

Any reptile can carry salmonella, but the incidence and levels in captive reptiles is significantly higher compared with wild reptiles. That is because many captive reptiles are kept in substandard conditions. Nobody on this forum does that of course. :) Anyway, clean the area around your turtle egg, then wash your hands, and you will be good to go.

Wow. Good thing some stories just are not true!
Leprosy? Geckos? Man, my whole family would be staggering around crying "unclean!!!"
Unfortunately, stories like this are common in Jamaica too concerning lizards of any kind, including our critically endangered Jamaica Iguana. The pest control companies advertise how they eliminate lizards along with cockroaches and rats.

Are you in the Middle East? The fear of geckos( braitsy) is totally unfounded. They are harmless. They eat insects & are not at all poisonous. I have a large one that lives in my kitchen( his name is Fred) of course all food left out is covered but none of us have ever suffered any ill effects from having him live with us. He will not be interested in your tortoise either.

A few weeks ago, a little green tree frog appeared in my tort enclosure. He's been bopping in and out - very camera shy - and the torts pay no attention whatsoever. I was surprised to see him (or her) on the wall outside the enclosure after all these weeks, but I guess the torts are sharing their food or the little insects that appear occasionally as well.

We also have geckos (we call them "Croaking lizards") living in our house, and enjoy watching them catching insects at night on the windows and walls. Any particularly hardy surviving moth goes in the morning to our Jamaica Giant Green Anole, Kratos.

This reminds me of the fellow my daughter was working for several years ago. Ron wanted to get some sort of lizard to turn loose in his house to catch bugs (I don't remember the name of the creature, but he wanted a particular species). Well, he turned his new lizards out in the house and after a day or two the house was once again free of. . . lizards!!!

so after along research I have found that all of you were right and I was wrong this Gecko is like any other geckos only causes salmonella but I have heard many stories in my life and on many sites on how this egyption gecko sprays poison on salt and water and gets infections to people like leprosy,
turns out all of this are Superstitions and sadly alot of people still belive that this is true
but there is another thing I have been wondering ,while I was cleaning the house and searching for the gecko, I found it and when I did and it saw me in a time of a blink it ran away like a bullet to my room ,since then it have been more than 3 days ,still no sign of it.
all of egyption geckos do that
and here are some pictures of the geckogecko regular1.jpeg

We have those geckos living here in the USA in Florida. They are not harmful, and won't bother anything. They'll eat little insects around your house.
