I’ve discovered something very interesting when I put the radio on in the tort room, it seems to stimulate them in to moving about more often and parading the borders of there enclosures.

I tried it once when they were sleeping and they all got up and started climbing and roaming about. How odd:)

I noticed this too! Artemis will definitely come out and hang out once I turn on some tunes. I'm not sure if I'm annoying her to death, but she usually comes out once I start practicing on my ukulele.

Music is something I doubt they encounter in the wild ( very few beastie boys concerts) so I imagine it is interesting to them. Whether or not they enjoy it, who knows?

If music is part of your normal routine, they might associate it with food getting delivered soon, you going out for a while (so they can throw a party), a nice warm bath... ;)

I think you may of cracked it there. I always put it on for them when I’m going out and most of the time I give them a little snack before I go:D. It’s fascinating how they associate things with food.

Another thing to note is that songs which involve singing or if you put the radio on seems to stimulate curiosity in my torts . They will parade the perimeters of their enclosures. They most likely believe it to be the food god himself.......me:)

Especially when dealing with shy turtles and tortoises. Some box turtles are shy enough, you just have to put their food down and clear out so they can eat in peace.
