I have a 10 month old leopard that during warm days I let them stay in my small yard for a few hours, that has been going on for 2 months. Yesterday I put it in the yard at noon and come back in the afternoon around 5pm, it was flipped over by a succulent with a watery mouth and terrified look with eyes closed tightly. It flipped before but never with a watery mouth. I don't know what happened but it looks very weak now.

It happened yesterday afternoon and since I found it it has been vomiting water and lost weight significantly. It does not open eyes, not eating not moving. I do not know why it was flipped over on a flat ground(on the left of the succulent please see picture), my guess was might be there are squirrels attacked it but there is no noticeable mark on it.

Can anyone help me what can I do now? Is there anything I can do do help it recover??Thanks a bunch!!!

You need to go to a vet ASAP! What you have described sounds like it’s over heated due to it being on its back in the sun. It may have even eaten something poisonous..... you need a vet.

Crows and ravens flip tortoises over and groups work together, this sounds like overheating to me.don't know what a vet can do to be honest but I would go. Might be able to rule out something toxic.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this tortoise may not make it. Being on his back for a long time, he may have aspirated fluid into his lungs. I agree with taking him to a vet because he may need a round of antibiotics for a respiratory infection. In the meantime, keep him quiet and warm. Nice warm soaks will help too, but don't make the water too deep.

Left alone for 5 hours outdoors...found flipped over....definitely needs to see a good reptile vet at once.

I don't know if this is helpful, but several weeks ago, I had my guys in a big cage in the yard where they could graze and move around some yet be protected for any predators. At that point, they were still in a tank - now, they are in a much larger enclosure. Anyway, I had them outside for a couple of hours, and when I went to check on them, the smaller one was on his back, with is head hanging out - really hanging out. He had white foam coming from his nose and mouth, he wasn't moving, and I really thought he was dead. I brought him in, put him in a cool soak in the sink and hoped for the best. Later that evening, he was pretty much back to his old self, ate, pooped, etc. It took him several days to LOOK normal because his head was still hanging way out, but he's perfectly fine now. Of course, I no longer leave them outside without supervision, but it was scary. I spoke to my son (he's a vet), and he said to listen to his breathing, and if it was raspy, or if I saw discharge from his nose, to take him to the vet. thankfully, he is perfectly fine. I hope yours will be, too.
