Sorry, accidentally clicked send before I finished.
I have box turtles and desert tortoises. Would like to know if they’re safe to feed them. Thank you!

I’ll keep this moving...

First one - ?
Second - Common Daisy
Third - Looks like it belongs to the Sedge family
Fourth - ?, but based on the type of leaf, i wouldnt feed.

Good luck.

I'm not sure, but look up pineapple weed and sticky willie for the first two. I wouldn't feed any of those.

Thank you! I looked up sedge on TTT and it said Carex Spp is safe to feed, but it doesn’t really look like the grass in my backyard. Think I’ll do some more research before I serve it up.

Thank you Yvonne! I’d been trying to research it on various sites but it’s very confusing. My research leads me to pineapple weed, mayweed or false chamomile, or chamomile , which runs the gamut from feed in moderation to do not feed on TTT . I guess, to be safe, I won’t feed. Wish I could though, for a varied diet. [emoji57]
Sorry, how do I sticky Willie? Use @ Willie?

The fourth one is Indian Tobacco. Highly toxic and highly invasive. Carefully pull it out by the root and throw it in the trash before it goes to seed.

For the others take a sample of the whole plant to your local nursery and ask for the local plant nerd. Try to bring the full plant including roots, stems, leaves and flowers, if any.

Thank you Tom! Good advice, will do.

I rubbed it with my fingers, does not appear to be sticky.
It's called sticky willy because there are little hooks on the seeds and they stick to whatever should happen to touch it, birds, cats, rabbits, etc. Thus spreading the seeds far and wide.

Try Coronopus, swinecress for the first one. Are the leaves foetid when you crush them?

The second one is a Matricaria or mayweed ehh scented or scent less.

The other two not sure.

The third one is a member of the sedge family. Here in the Phoenix area it is called onion grass and potato grass because of the tubers that it produces underground. It grows rapidly, spreads like wildfire, is almost impossible to get rid of except with an extremely toxic weed killer. My sulcatas love it which is good because it grows so fast.

I found an app that id’s plants, called ‘Picture This’. It’s free for 7 days and then I think $20 for a year. While it was free, we went around checking everything we could in our Timmi’s pen. Has anyone else tried using this?
