Hi Guys,
I'm posting this for a relative.

Gone round and noticed a crack on her Tortoises beak.

He's eating with no problems, moving around, to me he's as he normally is when I see him.

Not sure what to do, so any advice would be helpful.

TIA

JD

This is what happens when you allow the beak to become overgrown. It cracks and breaks off, and usually NOT in a spot we would like it to happen. Take some nail clippers and clip off that offending piece. It's probably overgrown on the other side too and you can also clip that side off. Small bits, don't try to take off too much at a time.

The best way I have seen to keep the head out and from moving around.
The way you are holding the tort in the pic makes him extend the head out.
Slip 2 fingers behind the head and hold the neck from letting the head to go back in.
Kamp Kenan has a YouTube video on the process of trimming a beak.
He uses a dremel tool but also recommends you don't use one.
Nail clippers like Yvonne said would be your best bet . If you feel uncomfortable doing it. Then find a vet that is knowledgeable about torts. Good luck!
