Hello, im new to this forum and wondering if there is a care sheet for sulcata's if they're being kept in the UK?
Im looking at getting one but not sure if caring for one would be different as we do not have a lot of nice weather here. I was wondering if it would be better to use a vivarium rather than a table because of our temperatures?

any help is appreciated thanks :)

Its doable.
I live in Germany and have similar weather
For the first few years u should definitely use a closed chamber for high enough temperature and humidity
Humidity is super important!

BUT REMEMBER they get absolutely huge...

If u don't own a house with a big garden for summer and a basement also super big that u can later transform in a massive indoor enclosure I wouldn't do it.

Also consider the electricity costs.

If u want to care for a sulcata properly in our cold climate u need to be 100% sure u are super intrested in tortoises and not only for a year but for the rest of ur life.

My sulcata is still small but I made sure I have the space that he needs as an adult already...

Safe ur money
Work ur a$$ off
And dont buy an expensive car

If u really want a sulcata get one!

*but cant recommend my family thinks I'm crazy as I told them the first floor is reserved only for my tortoise*

I can recommend a russian tortoise or one off the hermani specie

Hi, where abouts in the UK? I'm in Cambridgeshire. It sulcata is 3 now and weighs over 5000g! They grow very fast. You need at least 4x2 foot for a baby and then a 4x8 feet very soon. The enclosure must be fully enclosed for humidity and heated to 80° minimum and Warner for basking. The care sheets work here too, as they need the same conditions wherever you are. They need a big heated house for the cooler months and access outside as often as possible. Lots of grass and weeds to eat - check out the tortoise table for food ideas. Sulcatas don't eat any fruit at all.
