Hard to tell for this picture. Can we see the whole plant still in the ground? and maybe the flower?

That looks kind of like the mint that grows in my yard. Not good tortoise food if that is what it is.

If its something else, I'm not familiar with it.

Try looking up Indian (mock) strawberry. The leaves you pulled out in the first picture look right; I still can’t really see the flowers but poossibly.

Like other berries, it’s in the rose family and safe, if your tortoise will eat it.

The two plants pictured look like different plants? The first image the leaves are serrated
and in the second image showing the yellow flowers, the leaves are smooth aren't they?

I noticed that as well; the leaves in the first photo immediately put me in mind of berries but the second ones not so much. When I looked up images, I saw both types of leaves on one plant, or at least one group of plants. Definitely something the OP should check, though.

Have you tried the plantsnap app?
That may give you some names that you can check on the tortoiese table.

I was just about to ask if anyone uses that app. What is your opinion of it?
I don't actually use it, my phone is quite ancient, but looking at their website it looks good - it would at least give some ideas for names which could be double checked on the tortoise table etc. I will use it when I update my phone.

Does anybody here know of the best app to identify plants? There's so many to choose from but there's got to be one that's head and shoulders above the rest. Thank you in advance!

I tried one about a year ago, SmartPlant: Identify... . It only identified stuff I already knew. When I tried a few plants I did not know, less common, it would say "we are consulting our experts and will get back to you" . All I ever got back were emails saying "we did not find a match" and "we are still looking". So don't get that one. Now days, I just do the work myself and spend hours searching online by color, type and images or consult my Dad's old landscaping books. He was a landscape architect for the state. Plantsnap and Plantsnap pro has good reviews. I'm thinking about trying one of those.
